Networking Australia's Urban Governance

Abstract

In this chapter, we advocate for planning scholars and practitioners to appreciate the urban governance of Australian cities from a networked perspective. We illustrate this approach from an explicitly international political viewpoint that invites further dialogue and engagement between local narratives and wider circuits of global urban governance. The chapter first discusses not only how Australian cities have been emerging from “off the map” but also how they are underpinned by physical international connections; second, how networking has taken progressive place as a way of governing Australian cities; and, third, how these shifts are underpinned by a local politics of networking, and h..
